Google Photos and Samsung Gallery both have collage tools, built mainly for photos. Here is what each does, and how to put videos and photos together in Chrome.
On Android, Google Photos and Samsung Gallery can each make a collage of up to six items, and both are designed around photos. To mix several videos with photos, add music and choose the exact shape for a story or reel, open this page in Chrome and use the editor above: it runs on the phone and saves an MP4 to your gallery.
If a still photo collage is all you need, the built-in tools are quick. The steps for each are below.
Pick a format such as Story 9:16 above the Add photos and videos button.
Tap Add photos and videos and select clips and photos together from your gallery or files.
Layout changes the template, Media trims and reframes, Style sets the background, Music adds a song.
Tap Export, then Export video. Use Share to post to Instagram, TikTok or WhatsApp, or Download video to keep it.
Google’s steps (Android 8.0 or later):
Google’s help page describes the collage editor for photos, and the result is a still image. For videos side by side, use the browser editor.
On Galaxy phones, Samsung’s support page describes the Gallery route: open Gallery, tap the three-dot menu and choose Create collage, pick up to six images, choose a layout and ratio, then tap Save. Menus differ a little between One UI versions, and some versions also accept short videos; check what yours offers.
Full video editors such as CapCut can layer clips as overlays to build a collage by hand, which suits longer edits with transitions and effects. For a collage you want in a couple of minutes, without an account or an ending logo, the browser route is quicker. Our CapCut, Canva and InShot guide compares them.
