Privacy at collage.video
In short
A collage is often made of the most personal things on a phone: children’s birthdays, holidays, a wedding. collage.video never receives any of it. Your photos, videos and music are opened, arranged and turned into a new file by your own browser, and the result is saved back to your device.
Your photos, videos and music
When you add a file, the browser reads it from your device. Photos are decoded in memory; videos and songs play through the browser’s own decoders; the export is drawn and encoded inside the page using the WebCodecs API. None of the pictures, sound, file names or metadata is sent to collage.video or to anyone else, and no part of the site’s code uploads them.
What is kept in your browser
- Your collages. Each project, with copies of the photos, videos and music you added and a small preview picture, is saved in this site’s IndexedDB storage so that a reload or a closed tab doesn’t lose your work. The most recent 12 projects are kept; older ones are deleted automatically, and you can delete any of them from Continue a collage on the start screen.
- Light or dark mode, if you choose one, in local storage (
vt-theme). - Your statistics choice, in local storage (
vt-consent), so the cookie notice isn’t shown again and an objection is remembered.
All of this stays on your device until you delete it. Clearing this site’s data in your browser settings removes every project and file at once.
Downloads from other servers
Everything the editor needs, including its typefaces and its AAC audio encoder, is served from collage.video itself. The editor makes no requests to other servers while you work.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, in short-lived logs. This is necessary to run the site and rests on our legitimate interest in providing it securely. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Visit statistics
We measure how the site is used, so we can see which templates, formats and guides help people and fix what doesn’t.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics count visits and page speed without cookies and without identifying you.
- Google Analytics 4 records the pages you view and a few product events, such as which format or template was picked, whether music was added, and how long an export took, along with rounded figures like file size bands. It never receives your photos, videos, sound, file names, the words you type into captions or anything read from your media.
Google Analytics is used only for statistics: not for advertising, with Google signals and advertising features switched off, and with every advertising consent signal denied. Event data is kept for 14 months. Google may process the data in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Read Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Our legal basis is legitimate interests (measuring and improving the site). Storing the Analytics cookies relies on the statistical-purposes exception in the UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, which allows analytics cookies without consent as long as you are told about them and can object. Visitors from the European Economic Area and Switzerland have Analytics cookies off by default.
Cookies, and switching them off
Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<id>,
which last up to two years. A short notice explains this on your first visit. To object at
any time, open Cookie settings in the
footer and choose Turn off analytics; the choice is remembered in this
browser. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an objection
and leave Analytics off. We don’t sell personal data and show no adverts.
Who runs collage.video
collage.video is an independent, self-funded project. There are no accounts, and we hold no record that identifies you.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or erasure of personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and ask for a copy in a portable form. Because your media and projects never leave your device, you control them directly: delete them from the start screen or clear the site’s data. For the statistics, objecting through Cookie settings stops collection, and Google’s own tools cover data it holds. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If the way collage.video handles data changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated.
