How do I make a video in video?
Add two clips, open the Layout tab and choose a template from Picture in picture. The first clip becomes the background and the second the small window.
Free · photos and videos together · nothing uploaded
One clip fills the frame and a second floats on top: in a corner, at the top or as a round bubble. Reframe both, choose whose sound plays, and export.
To make a picture-in-picture video, add two clips and choose a layout from Picture in picture in the Layout tab. The first clip fills the frame; the second sits in a framed inset with a soft shadow. Drag one onto the other to switch which is big.
Four layouts cover the common jobs: Picture in picture (bottom-right corner), Inset at the top, a round Bubble for a face cam, and Two insets for a main clip with two reactions. Prefer equal halves? Use the split screen layouts.
Select Add photos and videos and pick the main clip first, then the one for the inset.
In Layout → Picture in picture, choose a corner inset, Inset at the top, Bubble or Two insets.
Tap the inset and drag inside it so the face sits in the middle; use Zoom to crop tighter.
Usually only one clip should talk. Tap the other and switch its sound off, or lower its Volume.
Select Export, then Export video for a single MP4 with the inset baked in.
On a phone video, the bottom of the frame is often covered by captions and the right edge by like and share buttons. If the video is going to Reels or TikTok, the Inset at the top layout keeps the small clip clear of both; switch on Safe zones to check. On landscape video for YouTube, the bottom-right corner is the convention.
The round Bubble layout reads as "this is me talking", which is why tutorial and commentary creators use it. Zoom in so the face fills the circle.
Either window can hold a photo: a product shot in the corner of a review, a map inset on a travel clip, or a full-screen photo with a talking-head bubble. Photos get a gentle slow zoom unless you switch off Slow zoom for that cell.

You choose its position by picking a layout (corner, top, bubble or two insets), and you reframe what shows inside it by dragging and zooming. Free-form dragging of the inset itself isn’t available.
Yes. The Bubble layout clips the second clip to a circle with a white ring.
Both, unless you change it. Tap a clip and switch its sound off, or set Clip sound under Music if you add a song.
No. Phone picture-in-picture shrinks a video player while you use other apps. This makes a new video file with one clip permanently placed over another.
